Wear Index professional statement
Privacy Policy
Version 1.0
Who is responsible
This page is operated by the author of the statement, the inventor of the Wear Index. Questions, corrections, and requests should go to [email protected].
What is collected
Only what you type into the form, and the times at which you submit and confirm it:
- your name, professional title, and organization;
- your area of expertise, years of experience, and public profile link;
- your professional email address;
- your declared relationship (or absence of a relationship) with the author;
- your written answers and your position on the statement;
- the exact consent wording you accepted, the version and fingerprint of the statement you signed, and your typed signature;
- the date and time you submitted and the date and time you confirmed, both in UTC.
What is not collected
Your IP address and browser user agent are not stored. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking scripts, and no third-party cookies on this site. The only cookie this site sets is a session cookie for the site owner’s own administrative login.
Brief, in-memory rate limiting uses a one-way hash of the connecting address to slow down automated abuse. It is never written to the database or to disk and is discarded when the server restarts.
Why it is collected and how it is used
The purpose is stated on the form itself and in the consent you accept: to record your independent professional opinion and, with your authorization, to use and share your response, name, title, organization, and public profile as supporting evidence, including in immigration petitions and other submissions to U.S. government agencies.
Your email address is used for one purpose only: to send you a single link confirming your signature. You will not receive marketing, newsletters, or any further bulk email from this site.
Integrity of the record
Because responses are used as evidence, they are designed not to be quietly alterable. Once submitted, a response cannot be edited or deleted through this website by anyone, including the site owner. On confirmation, a SHA-256 fingerprint is computed over your record, and every significant action is appended to an audit log.
This is a deliberate trade-off in favour of evidential reliability. It also means a correction cannot be made by editing your entry.
Corrections, withdrawal, and your rights
If you want to correct something, withdraw your response, or have your personal data removed, email [email protected]. Because the website itself cannot edit or delete records, such requests are handled by hand, directly in the database, and are honoured. If your response has already been included in a submission that has been filed, that filed copy cannot be retrieved, but your response will not be used in any further submission.
Depending on where you live you may have rights of access, correction, deletion, or objection under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. The email address above is the way to exercise them.
Retention
Confirmed responses are kept for as long as they may be needed as supporting evidence, and then as part of the historical record of this statement. Unconfirmed submissions carry no signature and are not used as evidence.
Who else sees your data
Your email address is passed to Mailgun, which delivers the single confirmation email. Bot protection on the form is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile. The site runs on a server operated by the site owner. No other party receives your data, and it is not sold or licensed to anyone.
If your response is included in an exhibit, your name, title, organization, expertise, public profile link, declared relationship, position, and written opinion appear in it — that is the consent you give. Your email address is not published in exhibits.
